Temporal-mandibular joint/TMJ (jaw) rehabilitation

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction can cause painful clicking, stiffness and inability to open the mouth wide. This can be following surgery (i.e. wisdom tooth extraction), jaw clenching/grinding due to stress or direct physical injury to the joint. A thorough assessment will identify the cause of the dysfunction. Rehabilitation will address the imbalances in the TMJ, correct TMJ disc malalignment and rehabilitate poor TMJ biomechanics. A home program will assist the patient to continue with rehabilitation thereafter.
